How to Make a Southern Green Tea in a Pressure Cooker
A pressure cooker is a great way to make a Southern green tea in less than an hour.
The recipe below is one that I used to make my favorite green tea, Southern Green tea, which is an incredibly easy to make and delicious tea.
I’ve been using the Southern Green for quite a while, and it has become my go-to tea recipe for green tea and the rest of my life.
When I’m cooking for myself, I’ll use the Southern Tea and enjoy it as it is.
This recipe is just that simple.
Here are the ingredients and how I used them to make this tea.
You can use whatever leaves you want to use.
You’ll need: a pressure cooker (or steam-top) 1 cup water (I used 3/4 cup) 2 cups water 2 teaspoons sugar 2 cloves garlic 2 tablespoons water or vinegar 1 tablespoon sesame oil 2 tsp ground cinnamon 2 drops of turmeric 1/4 tsp salt 2 1/2 cups milk 1 1/4 cups shredded cabbage 1 package (14 ounces) squeezed green tea leaves (I added the leaves in a zip-lock bag) How to Make Southern Green Teas: In a large pressure cooker, heat up 2 cups of water, add the garlic, water, sugar, and salt, and then stir to combine.
If you want, you can add in some of the remaining ingredients as well, but I did not.
Bring the pressure cooker to high and cook for 6 to 8 minutes on high.
Once it is done, remove the lid and let it vent out.
You want the steam to come up through the lid to the top of the pot.
It should be very bubbly and runny.
While it’s cooking, make the tea.
In a small saucepan, bring the water to a boil and then add the sugar.
Allow the sugar to melt for a minute, then add in the garlic.
Add the green tea leaf mixture and stir until dissolved.
In another saucepan over medium-high heat, heat the water over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Let the mixture boil for about 15 minutes.
Stir the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, then drain the liquid from the pot, reserving 1/3 of the tea and adding to the pot as needed.
Pour the mixture into a clean, large tea bag.
Place the bag in the pressure pot and then put a lid on the bag.
Place the lid on top of your pressure cooker and bring it to a gentle simmer.
After about 5 minutes, turn the heat to low and let the pot simmer for about 20 minutes.
After the timer goes off, the tea will be soft and a little runny but still have a little liquid.
Remove the lid from the cooker and then let it sit at room temperature for about 5 hours, or overnight.
After the tea is done and you’re ready to serve, remove from the bag and allow to cool.
Serve the tea with a drizzle of milk or another vegetable sauce.
Make it fun and festive with the Southern Blueberry Cucumber Salad.
